Perennial Holdings inks agreement to open two hospitals in Guangzhou
Located in the Southeast Tower of Yuesheng Plaza, this will be the first wholly foreign-owned tertiary general hospital and specialist hospital in Guangzhou and Southern China. Both medical centers will have an overall planned capacity of over 600 beds.
Both healthcare facilities in Guangzhou are assumed to be carried out in July 2026, forming the initial phase of the Perennial Baiyun International Healthcare City. Under the collaboration agreement between Perennial Holdings and the Guangzhou Baiyun District Government, the healthcare city is readied to span over 1.18 sq km at an approximated total investment cost of RM5 billion. The Perennial Baiyun International Healthcare City is envisioned to be a medical and wellness precinct combining medical, wellness, research, training, business and non commercial parts, states the group.
The healthcare facilities are expected to establish Guangzhou as a “top health tourist spot”, attracting high-net-worth buyers from the Asia Pacific area, assumes Pua.
Perennial Holdings has signed a deal with Guangzhou Metro Group to rent roughly 105,000 sq ft of space and invest around RMB1 billion ($ 178.9 million) to start two hospitals in Guangzhou.
Currently, the team has 5 healthcare-centric TODs that are attached to HSR stops, situated in Tianjin, Chengdu, Kunming, Xi’an and Chongqing. Perennial Holdings owns, regulates and handles over 25,000 beds in medical and eldercare centers, consisting of 16,000 operational beds and 9,000 beds in the pipeline, all around China and Singapore.
According to Perennial Holdings, the two healthcare facilities are going to feature a shared medical centers and services approach that will allow medical professionals and clinical teams to operate an asset-light basis, without needing to buy clinical centers and services. As an alternative, they will make use of facilities provided and managed by Perennial Holdings.
The model, that was piloted at Perennial Holdings’ general hospital in Tianjin that commenced functions earlier this year, provides convenience and cost efficiency to doctors and clinical groups, the firm includes.
On The Other Hand, Perennial Holdings is also readied to create an integrated eldercare project in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District, that will include a rehabilitation hospital, taking care of home and an eldercare home.
Pua Seck Guan, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Perennial Holdings, claims: “The RMB1 billion investment aligns with our strategic focus on healthcare-centric HSR transit-oriented developments (TODs), that function as enablers of our healthcare business, and marks our primary medical care business foray into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.”
